Book Editor

Tuttle Publishing is seeking a full-time book editor. Tuttle publishes about 125 titles each year with a strong focus on Asian-related themes and subjects, from language learning, philosophy, art and literature to children’s books, history, cooking, crafts, martial arts and travel. This is a full-time in-house position in our North Clarendon, VT office. Our work week is Monday through Friday (Monday, Wednesday and Friday are in-office days; Tuesday and Thursday are remote days).

Responsibilities:

Edit and supervise book projects, from signing of contracts to bound books
Manage freelancers to maintain the editorial schedule
Collaborate with the sales and marketing personnel
Present titles at internal editorial and sales meetings
Propose and acquire new titles

Requirements:

Two to three years of book editing experience
Strong project management, communication and organizational skills
Proficiency with copy editing and proofreading
Knowledge of Japanese language and culture, a plus

· Ability to multitask

Experience working with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
