Under the general direction of the Special Advisor, the Staff Services Manager I (Specialist) (SSMI Specialist) will provide staff support and assistance on the most critical, sensitive and confidential program issues; provide administrative assistance and coordinate responses and associated timelines and serve as a point of contact for the Office of the California Surgeon General to departments within the Agency umbrella and control agencies.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Social Services policies.

Department Information

The California Health and Human Services Agency (CalHHS) oversees twelve departments and five offices that provide a range of health care services, social services, mental health services, alcohol and drug services, income assistance, and public health services to Californians from all walks of life. More than 33,000 people work for departments in CHHS at state headquarters in Sacramento, regional offices throughout the state, state institutions and residential facilities serving the mentally ill and people with developmental disabilities.
