Job Title: Contract CDL Driver – Mobile Market Truck

Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week / 40 hours per month
Position Summary:
The Contract CDL Driver operates the Maui Food Bank’s Mobile Market Truck to distribute fresh, nutritious food directly to underserved communities across Maui County. This role supports scheduled Mobile Market routes by ensuring safe vehicle operation, on-time food deliveries, and professional interaction with community members. This is a contracted position with a flexible schedule, averaging 10 hours per week (or 40 hours per month), ideal for someone seeking meaningful part-time work in service of our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Driving & Distribution
- Operate a CDL-class vehicle (e.g., F-450 or similar) to transport and distribute food to designated Mobile Market locations.
- Load and unload food safely using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or other tools as needed.
- Set up Mobile Market distributions (tables, signage, etc.) and assist with food layout and customer flow.
- Maintain a respectful, welcoming, and service-oriented presence at all distribution events.
Vehicle Safety & Maintenance
- Perform required pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections; report issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle interior and exterior.
- Monitor and maintain refrigeration (if applicable) and fuel levels.
- Log mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance records as directed.
Compliance & Reporting
- Follow all DOT, state, and local driving laws and safety guidelines.
- Comply with food safety standards for transporting and handling food.
- Track and report route details, distribution numbers, and any incidents to supervisor.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience driving commercial vehicles.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently.
Preferred:
- Experience in food distribution, nonprofit, or community outreach programs.
- Knowledge of Maui County roadways and rural areas.
- Multilingual abilities (Hawaiian, Spanish, Tagalog, etc.) are a plus.

- Type: Independent contractor
